A Very Special Night at The Franklin

I love Groundswell so much (check my post about them here). So when I heard they were opening a restaurant, I couldn’t be more excited. I got on the waitlist as soon as I found out. We were lucky enough to get a reservation for Thursday, during the opening week. It just happened to fall right in the middle of our vacation. Perfect timing!

Even though we’re local, it felt like a celebration. One of the best moments of our time off.

Every little detail in that space was so thoughtful. We sat on a cozy little sofa with two round tables. It was so comfortable and inviting. I was so happy, I could cry. It felt like a big hug.

The cocktail menu was full of fun and creative drinks. Brendon had the Boulevardier, and I ordered a French 75 to start and later tried the Franklin Manhattan. Every drink was delicious and beautifully done.

We started with the deviled eggs (topped with caviar!) and their house salad, fresh and flavorful. For our main dishes, I had the ratatouille, and Brendon went with the duck confit. We shared the mac and cheese on the side, and it was exactly what you hope mac and cheese will be: creamy, rich, and comforting but not heavy.

I love collecting experiences like this. Being there felt so good for my soul! One of those dinners you know you’ll always remember. Everything just felt special.

Then dessert time came. Brendon said, “I don’t need dessert.” (Classic.)

Well… I ordered two anyway. :)

We had the Chocolate Pot de Crème and the Lemon Ginger Cheesecake. And guess what? Brendon, who is not a dessert person, was obsessed with the cheesecake. I, of course, loved both. Every bite was a treat.

And the sweetest touch? Along with the check, they brought us a little postcard. We could write a note and fill out an address, and they would mail it for us. I mean… how charming is that?

As someone who works with people and cares so deeply about the experiences I create, going to places like this truly fills my cup. I’m definitely going back. Next time, I’m bringing my loved ones with me.

If you have a friend who loves discovering special places, share this post with them!

By sharing it, you help me grow my blog and support my small business, and that means the world to me.
