My Last Ingredients of Style Masterclass Before Maternity Leave
What a special evening at Maven Hair Company in Franklin, Massachusetts. 🤍
My last Ingredients of Style Masterclass before maternity leave was fully booked, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to mark this moment in my business and in my life.
A very special thank you to Vanessa and her incredible team at Maven for welcoming me into their beautiful space and for all the thought and care they put into the event. Every detail was beautifully done, and I felt so welcomed and supported.
And to everyone who attended, thank you for spending your evening with us. I loved sharing what I know about color and personal style, answering your questions, and watching the little discoveries happening around the room.
Teaching has become such a meaningful part of my work, especially because Ingredients of Style came directly from my experiences with my clients.
How Ingredients of Style Started
The idea actually came from something I kept hearing at the end of my Color Analysis appointments.
Clients would discover their colors, get excited about their results, and say something like, “Now I’m ready to go shopping and build the wardrobe I’ve always dreamed of!”
And in my head, I would think: Oh no, wait! There are a few more things I want you to know before you do that!
Because color is an amazing tool, but it is only one ingredient of personal style.
There is so much more to consider when building a wardrobe that works for you: your body, proportions, lifestyle, preferences, the clothes you already own, and even understanding why you are naturally drawn to certain things.
I also realized that not everyone wants to hire a personal stylist, and they don’t necessarily need to.
Many women simply want to learn. They want to understand themselves better, develop their own eye, shop with more intention, and feel more confident making those decisions on their own.
That became the foundation for Ingredients of Style.
I wanted to bring together the things I found myself wishing I could tell my clients before they went home and started the next part of their style journey.
A Class That Is Very Personal to Me
What I teach in Ingredients of Style has been shaped by years of learning.
Some of it comes from my education, courses, books, and conversations with colleagues in the industry. But so much of it has also come from the privilege of working one-on-one with women over the years.
Every client brings a different body, lifestyle, personality, set of needs, and relationship with clothes. Listening to their questions and helping them navigate their challenges has taught me so much and continues to influence the way I work today.
One thing I have learned is that personal style is very personal. I don’t want to give women another list of rules telling them what they can and cannot wear.
I would much rather give them the knowledge and tools to understand why something works, decide what feels right for them, and continue exploring their style on their own.
That is why this class is so near and dear to my heart.
A Different Season
This masterclass also came at a very special time in my life.
As we get closer to welcoming baby Calvin, I have been slowly adjusting the pace of my work. This was my final masterclass before maternity leave, although I’m not quite done working yet!
I plan to continue seeing my one-on-one clients on a part-time basis for the next 6 to 8 weeks, as long as Calvin doesn’t decide he would like to meet us a little earlier than planned. 🩵
I love my work and I love spending time with my clients, so I’m grateful that I can slow down gradually while preparing for everything that is about to change.
There is something emotional about reaching these little “lasts” before such a big new beginning. Having this particular class be one of them felt very fitting.
Thank You 🤍
To Vanessa and the Maven team, thank you for trusting me with your community and for creating such a beautiful environment for us.
And to every person who came to the masterclass, asked questions, participated, and shared a little bit of yourself with us, thank you. Seeing the event fully booked meant so much to me.
I’m leaving this season feeling grateful for the people my business has brought into my life, for everything my clients continue to teach me, and for the opportunity to do work that I care so deeply about.
Ingredients of Style is available as a three-session one-on-one experience and is also offered for private groups, businesses, and corporate events.
And now, I’ll keep seeing my clients, taking things a little slower, and getting ready to meet the little boy who has been coming along with me to work all these months. 🩵
