Fashion Daydream: Wearing Sparkle While the World Feels Dark

With the exciting news that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently being filmed in New York City, we’ve been treated to a few sneak peeks from behind the scenes, popping up all over social media. It’s been such a delight to see the iconic fashion moments come to life again. Naturally, everyone’s buzzing about how the fashion in the sequel compares to the original. Some say it’s just as dazzling, while others feel there’s room for even more daydream-worthy, whimsical fashion.
This whole conversation got me thinking about how much we all need a bit of fashion daydreaming in our lives. The joy of dressing up just for the fun of it, to escape reality for a moment, and to bring a little sparkle into the everyday. For me, fashion has become a form of therapy, a way to lift my spirits and find joy in creativity. And I invite you to think about how you can use fashion as a tool to make life a little lighter and happier, too.
Because let’s be honest, there are days when the world feels so heavy. And in the middle of it all, I find myself popping onto social media saying hi and sharing a new outfit or a fun pair of ear cuffs. For a long time, I felt guilty about that. But I’ve made peace with it. I’ve made it my mission to bring joy through fashion, even when things around us are difficult.
I believe we need more beauty, not less. More light, more imagination. Fashion is one way we can create that. It is not about ignoring reality. It is about holding space for joy, even when things are hard.
My mother-in-law once said to me, “Shared joy is double joy, and shared sorrow is half a sorrow.” I carry that with me. And I hope, through these posts and our shared love for style, we are creating a little more of that double joy together.
So let’s keep daydreaming in our outfits. Let’s shine our lights from the inside out. We might not be able to control everything going on around us, but we can still put on a lipstick we love, a dress that makes us feel like ourselves, or even our coziest bathrobe and glow our light wherever we go.
I’m sharing a few of my favorite pieces that spark joy and remind me that a bit of fashion magic can go a long way. You’ll find the shop link in this post, and I hope they add a playful, beautiful touch to your own wardrobe.
If this post brought you comfort or made you smile, I’d love for you to share it with a friend, save it for later, or post it on your social media. When you do, it helps me grow this space and continue showing up here every week for you.
Thank you for being here. I’m so grateful for you.
