The Blush Season

In the Summer, we are all after that healthy, sun-kissed glow. I find myself reaching for blush more often this time of year. It brings life to our faces and adds that little something that makes even the simplest makeup feel fresh. Let’s be honest, Sabrina Carpenter is making soft pink cheeks a signature look, and blush is having a moment. It is playful, pretty, and full of personality.

Are you adding more color to your cheeks this season, too? Here are some of my favorite tips to help you get that radiant summer look.

The Right Color for You

As a color analyst, I always say the best blush for you is the one that mirrors your natural cheek color. It should look like it is part of you, not sitting on top of your skin. If you're unsure what that color is, try gently pinching the apples of your cheeks and wait a few seconds. The tone that shows up is usually a great guide.

If you are one of my color analysis clients, you already have this covered. Your blush shades are listed in the materials I gave you during your session, so keep those close when shopping or trying new products.

Texture: Liquid, Cream, or Powder

Cream blushes have been my favorite lately. They are easy to apply with fingers, give a soft glow, and blend beautifully into the skin. I find them especially helpful for quick, natural makeup looks.

If you have mature skin, cream is usually a great choice. It sits lightly on the skin and avoids looking dry or cakey.

Powder blushes are great if you have oilier skin or want a more polished, defined finish. You can also layer powder on top of cream to help it last longer on hot or humid days.

All textures have their place. It depends on your skin type and the finish you like best.

Extra Advice for Color Balance

If your skin naturally has more redness or pigmentation, and your goal is to keep your complexion more even, here is a simple trick. Let your clothing help.

Wearing tops in colors like orange, red, or pink can bring warmth and brightness to your face, even if you skip the blush.

But if you want to tone down natural redness or avoid adding extra color, wear cool tones like blue, teal, turquoise, or soft greens. These shades help balance out warm tones in your skin and give a more neutral, calm look overall.

I hope this post inspires you to add a little color to your makeup routine and try something new. A touch of color on the cheeks really does bring a fresh, lively feeling to your day.

If you enjoyed this post, feel free to share it or send it to a friend. That small act helps me grow this blog and my business, and I appreciate it more than you know.

And now I want to hear from you. What is your favorite blush? Cream, powder, liquid? Leave it in the comments. I would love to know.

With love,

Ana
