How Do I Know Whether a Trend Is for Me or Not?

It’s easy to feel like we need to embrace every trend that shows up. But constantly trying to keep up can lead to decision fatigue, and it doesn’t always help us feel more confident or authentic in our style.
This post is here to help you pause and reflect before jumping on a new trend. My goal is to help you feel more grounded in your decisions, so you know when a trend is truly right for you and when it’s okay to let it pass.
1. Ask yourself: Would I want this if it weren’t trending?

Before you buy something just because it’s everywhere, pause and ask: Would I still want this piece if it weren’t a trend? Would I wear it even if no one else was wearing it?

These simple questions can help you avoid impulsive shopping and make sure you're choosing pieces that truly reflect your style, not just what’s popular in the moment.
2. Can you actually wear it with what you already own?

It might look cute on the rack (or on Instagram), but take a moment to ask: Can I pair this with the pieces I already have? Where in my life would I actually wear it?

Sometimes a trend catches our eye, but it doesn’t match our lifestyle or anything in our closet. If you don’t have an occasion that suits the look, or if it doesn’t complement the pieces you already love, it might not be the right addition.
3. If you’ve done a Color Analysis, let that guide you

Color isn’t everything, but it plays a big part! If you’ve had a Color Analysis, use it as an extra filter. Does this trend come in a color that suits you well? If not, perhaps it’s not the right piece, or you can wait until a similar version appears in one of your best shades.
It’s one more helpful way to narrow things down and make sure you’re saying yes to pieces that truly light you up.
4. If all the answers are “yes”, try it first!

Even if it checks all the boxes, don’t buy it without trying it on. Look at the fit, move around in it, and most importantly, see how you feel.
It should feel like a “hell yes!”, not a “maybe…”
There’s nothing wrong with adding some freshness and fun to your wardrobe every so often, as long as you love it and actually wear it.

I hope this blog helps you develop a more thoughtful eye when it comes to incorporating trends into your wardrobe.
Remember: if your style is “all the styles,” deep down it might not truly be any of them. There’s something so beautiful about having a signature look that people instantly recognize as you.

Own your style. Show up more authentically than ever by developing a unique personal look that feels true to you. Sprinkle in a few trends here and there to keep things fresh, but let your light shine with confidence and grace.
What’s a trend you’re loving and excited to embrace?
I’ll start: wide-leg pants have my heart lately :)
