From Runway to Reality: How Fashion Week Shapes Our Style

From Runway to Reality: Fashion Week’s Influence on Everyday Style
Fashion Week in Paris, Milan, London, and New York is more than a spectacle—it sets the tone for global fashion trends. Runway looks trickle down into high street fashion, from sequined dresses reimagined as sparkly camisoles to oversized blazers and structured jackets. Even beauty trends—lip colors, hairstyles, nails, and glowing skin—emerge from these shows and shape our daily routines.

The trickle-down effect means couture visions are adapted by fast fashion brands, mid-range labels, and boutiques, making runway style accessible to everyone. But the street style influence is just as powerful: editors, influencers, and stylists outside the shows inspire bold accessories, layering techniques, and creative color pairings that quickly filter into wardrobes worldwide.

For your closet, Fashion Week is the butterfly effect of fashion—a single runway moment in New York or Paris can inspire how you tie a scarf, style your jeans, or pick your next handbag color. At Nuggets of Style, we bridge the gap between luxury fashion shows and real-life outfits, showing how to translate runway trends into everyday style that feels authentic and wearable.

Preppy is the recycled black. Polos are back

Preppy is the recycled black. Polos are back

Polos are everywhere again and it feels fresh. They showed up on runways and then hit real life fast. Rihanna wore one. Hailey Bieber did too. Billie Eilish brought her oversized, not so traditional take. Zendaya made the tennis polo feel chic during the Challengers press moments.

This is not the old polo with basic jeans. The vibe now is relaxed and creative. Polo with a sharp suit. Polo with heels and a slip skirt. Polo with tights and a mini. Polo under a dressy third layer when you need ready in seconds. The knit keeps it easy. The collar makes it look intentional. Leave a button open and it feels modern.

Keep your colors inside your everyday base so the polo mixes with what you own. If you want a little fun, try a stripe and let it do the talking. Mix it with pieces that feel a bit unexpected together and watch the outfit click.

I pulled a small edit of polos at a range of prices for you to explore. No full looks here, just good polos that work hard. Shop my picks:

Matching Sets Are Stealing the Show

Matching sets have been having their moment again.

In the 50s they were the ultimate workwear look. Think perfectly coordinated skirts and jackets, crisp fabrics, and polished details. A uniform for the woman who meant business.

By the 80s and 90s they were back, but with more attitude. Bolder prints, brighter colors, softer shapes. Still coordinated, but ready to play.

Fast forward to today and matching sets are everywhere. In tailoring, knits, silky loungewear, sporty streetwear, even sequins. The rules are gone and the options are endless. And I am here for it.

Here is why I love them. Unlike a jumpsuit or a dress, you can break them apart. Wear the full set and you get that monochromatic “I did not even try but I look put together” vibe. Wear them separately and suddenly you have a closet full of new outfit combinations.

If you know me, you know I am all about getting the most out of what you own. Cost per wear matters and matching sets stretch every dollar while keeping the style factor high.

They are effortless, versatile and they make you look like you know exactly what you are doing even when you are just grabbing coffee.

These are some of the sets I have added to my closet lately and I am obsessed.

Have you tried a matching set? Is it a yes or a no for you?
