Warming Up for NYFW
Melissa and I are so excited to be reunited for the first time since she moved from NYC to France in March. NYFW is the moment we look forward to all year, and this season is no different. I always come back from working backstage feeling like I can change the world, wanting to wear things I haven’t touched in ages and seeing everything with a fresh perspective. My heart beats faster just writing this.
Let me take you back to how I ended up at my very first backstage. Back when I was taking sewing and pattern design classes, my course was in the same building as the college-level fashion design program. Even though I wasn’t in college yet, I became friends with many of the students. One day they had a field trip to Rio Fashion Week, called Fashion Rio, and I somehow found my way to join them to watch an independent show.
When we arrived, I freaked out. I was so happy I could cry. I was pinching myself the whole time, in complete ecstasy just to be there. Walking through the space, I spotted a familiar face: a senior student named Ramon. He was wearing a shirt that said production. I asked, “You work here? What a dream, how did that happen?” He tossed a shirt at me and said, “Someone just dropped out, do you want to work with us?”
I didn’t even blink before saying yes. I lived hours away and didn’t have a license yet, but I knew I would find a way to make it work. That night when I got home, I woke my mom up to tell her what happened. I remember it so clearly. She called one of her best friends to ask if I could stay with them that week so I wouldn’t have to commute. Then she broke her piggy bank and gave me cash to support me in following my dream.
My mom is a humble woman who never came from money, but she has always believed in me and always did everything she could to help me chase my dreams. I wish I had more photos from that week, it was over a decade ago, before smartphones, and photos backstage were not allowed. I was so cautious not to ruin such an amazing opportunity.
That week was the spark that never went out in my heart. And today, here I am, getting ready to work at NYFW, still pinching myself. Thank you, Mom.
What would you love for us to share from NYFW? Brechós, street style, special finds from the city? Let us know in the comments. For this nugget there is no catalog, just story and inspiration.
Trousers are stretching their legs… literally!
Remember when skinny jeans were basically a second skin? Well, fashion decided it was time to breathe. Wide trousers have been back now for a while on the runway, the streets, and even in our day-to-day coffee runs.
From relaxed tailoring to oversized denim, wide legs are giving us all the space we didn’t know we needed. Plus, they’re surprisingly flattering (and yes, you can actually sit down without worrying about circulation).
Think of them as the cool cousin of your classic trousers: polished enough for work, breezy enough for weekend plans, and bold enough to make you feel like you own the pavement.
Style tip? Balance is your BFF. If the legs go wide, keep the top structured or tucked in to let those trousers do the talking.
Matching Sets Are Stealing the Show
Matching sets have been having their moment again.
In the 50s they were the ultimate workwear look. Think perfectly coordinated skirts and jackets, crisp fabrics, and polished details. A uniform for the woman who meant business.
By the 80s and 90s they were back, but with more attitude. Bolder prints, brighter colors, softer shapes. Still coordinated, but ready to play.
Fast forward to today and matching sets are everywhere. In tailoring, knits, silky loungewear, sporty streetwear, even sequins. The rules are gone and the options are endless. And I am here for it.
Here is why I love them. Unlike a jumpsuit or a dress, you can break them apart. Wear the full set and you get that monochromatic “I did not even try but I look put together” vibe. Wear them separately and suddenly you have a closet full of new outfit combinations.
If you know me, you know I am all about getting the most out of what you own. Cost per wear matters and matching sets stretch every dollar while keeping the style factor high.
They are effortless, versatile and they make you look like you know exactly what you are doing even when you are just grabbing coffee.
These are some of the sets I have added to my closet lately and I am obsessed.
Have you tried a matching set? Is it a yes or a no for you?
Fashion You Can Almost Eat: The Food Print Trend
Fashion You Can Almost Eat: The Food Print Trend
By Melissa Fros
When would’ve I thought a fried egg on my chest could be fashionable? Well, not until now that I see food prints taken over our wardrobes — and I’m eating it up.
From sultry cherries to mac and cheese, sushi rolls, bananas, strawberries, and even pizza slices that look like modern art, fashion has decided to stimulate our appetites and serve up a big dose of humor. What used to be reserved for beach days — like the classic pineapple print — is now popping up on blazers, party dresses, and even dessert-shaped bags.
This trend hits the sweet spot: it’s playful, photogenic, and brings back a sense of fun fashion has been missing. Behind the laughs and likes, these edible prints also bring warmth and personality.
Fashion is communication — and what says more about you than your favorite snack? Because at the end of the day, we all want to wear what we love — and sometimes, that’s literally a slice of cake.

When Skirts Became My Go-To
When Skirts Became My Go-To
By Ana Harris
I remember saying, not too long ago, that I didn’t like wearing skirts.
Fast forward a few years and now they’re my go-to.
It’s funny how our tastes shift, sometimes without us even noticing. Fashion trends are not just about clothes. They reflect what society is craving, shaped by how we live, feel, and evolve. I’ve never been someone who embraces every trend that comes along. But little by little, we do change. The world around us changes. And some of those shifts end up in our wardrobes.
That’s not something to feel embarrassed about. It just means we are part of the time we are living in.
If you wore the same clothes you wore 20 years ago, you might feel like a character from a movie set in the past. There is something grounding about feeling like you belong in the moment. Right here, right now.
Have you noticed your own style shifting over the years?
The Art of Mixing Metals
It all begins with an idea.
The Art of Mixing Metals
By Ana Harris
Mixing metals is such a simple trick, but it makes a big impact.
You can take two pieces you already own and, just by wearing them together, give your outfit a fresh new feel.
Here are some easy ways to try:
• Start with one metal as your base and add a second one in small touches
• Stack necklaces or rings in gold and silver
• Keep the vibe consistent by pairing delicate with delicate or bold with bold
• Try a piece that already mixes metals to tie it all together
There are no rules here. Just play, layer, and let your style evolve.
Today’s picks include my favorite mixed metal pieces. Tap to shop and tell me, are you more into gold, silver, or both?
Maximalism Is Back, Darling — and It’s Not Being Subtle
Maximalism Is Back, Darling — and It’s Not Being Subtle
By Melissa Fros
After years of beige, basics, and the reign of “less is more,” maximalism is knocking — and it’s not doing it gently. Think bold layering, clashing prints (and winning), accessories in party mode, vibrant colors that make highlighters jealous, and that glorious feeling that more really is more.
It’s like fashion had a double espresso and decided it’s done being shy. And honestly? So are we. Maximalism isn’t just about turning heads — it’s a celebration of individuality. No rules, no apologies — just wear what makes you grin at your reflection.
If you’re ready to embrace your inner maximalist, here are a few golden (and glittery) tips: colors are your best friend — the bolder, the better. Accessories? Pile them on. Layer like your closet’s a playground. Mix prints and textures without fear. And top it all off with quirky bags and shoes that make you feel like the main character. Because you are.
Maximalism is back, and it's here to dance in your living room with glitter on its face.
Feeling bold yet? Tap into your maximalist era with our handpicked pieces that scream more is more.
Scarves: The Little Detail That Changes Everything
Scarves: The Little Detail That Changes Everything
You know that outfit that feels like it's missing something?
Yep, most of the time, that something is a scarf.
Simple, versatile, and full of charm, scarves are one of the most powerful (and underrated!) accessories in your wardrobe. They work in any season, suit every style, and have the magic ability to elevate even the most basic look in seconds.
And the best part? You can wear them however you like.
5 Stylish Ways to Wear a Scarf
1. In Your Hair
Wear it as a headband, bow, ponytail tie, or wrap it around a bun. A scarf in your hair adds a romantic, effortless vibe and it’s a chic solution for any bad hair day.
2. Around Your Neck
A timeless classic. Tie it 60s-style, with a side knot, or wear it loosely over your outfit — it gives your look a Parisian twist in the blink of an eye.
3. As a Top
Yes, you read that right. A well-tied scarf can become your dream summer crop top. Perfect for warm days or a fun festival look.
4. On Your Bag
Here’s a quick style upgrade: tie a scarf around your handbag handle. It’s like giving your favorite accessory a brand-new outfit.
5. On Your Wrist or Ankle
For the bold and creative — wear it as a bracelet or tie it around your ankle with minimalist sandals. It’s all in the details, and this one says you really know your fashion.
Style Tip:
Play with color and print! A scarf can be your outfit’s pop of color or the perfect mix-and-match element. Anything goes as long as you feel amazing in it.

Who's this girl? Meet Melissa
✨ Hi, I’m Melissa ✨
Brazilian by heart, fashion lover by destiny, and these days an amateur croissant critic living in the South of France.
Once upon a time, I studied law. My closet was full of pencil skirts and I could quote legal articles faster than you could say objection. But life decided I looked better in a silk blouse than in a courtroom robe, and I followed where it led me.
Now my days are filled with fabric, light, and style, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

A Nugget About Ana Harris
Hi, I am Ana Harris. I was born in Ceará, Brazil and grew up in Petrópolis, Rio. Fashion has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I signed up for every certification class fashion related that I could find in my small town. Later I worked as a clothing and pattern designer and even went to New York to learn more, where I had the unforgettable experience of working backstage at New York Fashion Week surrounded by the energy and beauty of it all.
In 2018 I moved to the United States. Two years later I started my business as a personal stylist and color analyst here in New England. Today I work with women across Massachusetts and Rhode Island, helping them feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.
For me style goes far beyond clothes. I create space for women to see themselves with kind eyes, to enjoy their reflection, and to feel supported in their daily lives. Clothes can bring healing. They can lift your spirit and give you the courage to show up as yourself.
This is why I created Nuggets of Style with my friend Melissa Fros. We wanted to share simple and joyful tips in a way that feels light and real. Fashion has always brought joy to my life and I hope these Nuggets can bring joy to yours too.
Each Nugget is a small reminder that you deserve to feel good in what you wear. Confidence does not come from perfection, it comes from being yourself. Style belongs to all of us in our everyday lives.
I am so happy you are here. Welcome to A Nugget About Ana Harris.
